Ironmongery

Each aspect of ironmongery serves its own purpose when fixed to a fire door and the specification will be dependant on the fire door location within a building.

Over time, ironmongery can become worn and damaged, requiring replacement or repair. It is also often identified that ironmongery may never have been originally installed, or ironmongery outside of the door set test evidence has been used.

In either circumstance, it is important within the fire door inspection to ensure all aspects of ironmongery are functioning to serve their purpose, replacing or repairing aspects where necessary.

Common ironmongery faults may be faulty or incorrectly specified hinges, damaged or missing overhead door closers and missing fire door signage.
