The project involved conducting fire door inspections and fire compartmentation surveys across the nine buildings of the college campus, in preparation of a wider tender for a five year plan to improve passive fire safety measures throughout. Each defect was recorded with its relevant recommended maintenance repair (or replacement) in accordance with BM TRADA’s accepted repair technique schedule. Each fire compartmentation fault was recorded with the recommended certified firestopping solution. Both reports per building were collated and used in an open tender process, issued by the client.

Following the tender process, LAC Services were awarded the work. They, the client and their fire risk assessor met and came up with a risk based programme of works for year one. All high risk replacement door sets and all firestopping works were identified as priority, with a programme of works scheduled between 2023 and 2024. All firestopping was completed/handed over in November 2023. The final two buildings of priority door sets were finished in January 2025. A programme for regular re-inspection of all newly installed door sets as part of the on going maintenance plan.
