Perimeter Gaps

One of the most common deficiencies found in fire door inspections is that the door leaf to frame or floor perimeter gaps exceed the specified size tolerance within the manufacturer specification, or within BS:8214. There are a number of correct maintenance repairs depending on: gap size; which edge(s) the gaps are excessive on; the finish of the door; the location of the door. The images attached show a common repair process of: Removing the architraves from a door set with excessive gaps; re packing the frame; fire stopping the frame to substrate gap; re installing the architraves; installing intumescent packers behind the hinges and finalising with digital photographic evidence of a gap gauge showing the correct size gap following the repair.
